Victoria Public Library of Texas serves both the city and county of Victoria. We strive to meet a variety of information, reading, educational and recreational needs of our community. We have a strong focus on serving children through our collections, storytimes and summer reading programs. We also maintain a strong recreational reading collection for adults, a large variety of current newspapers and magazines and provide public internet access and WiFi. We have an active and supportive Friends group that holds several book sales each year and a well stocked local history and genealogy area. Victoria Public Library has expanded its services with audiobooks, and eBooks, available to download from the library?s website. Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting http://southtexas.lib.overdrive.com. Users may browse the library?s website, check out with a valid library card, and download to PC, Mac?, and many mobile devices. Users will need to install free software. For audiobooks: OverDrive? Media Console?. To read eBooks, users will need Adobe? Digital Editions. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod?, Sony? Reader?, and many others. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees! About Victoria Public Library: For more than 110 years, the Victoria Public Library has provided public library service in Victoria. Established in 1899 by the Bronte Club the public library began with 515 volumes of books. The City of Victoria acquired administration of the library in 1971. Today, the Victoria Public Library is located in downtown Victoria. Each year, the Victoria Public Library provides around 440 programs, answers more than 42,000 reference questions and serves the more than 86,000 residents of Victoria County.
